Basics: embrace serendipity

homeless person at grocery store
The reality of homelessness.

Embrace serendipity.

Be present for the positive, unexpected blessings and opportunities that come your way.

Busy people never, or rarely, see serendipity.

Congrats on honing your mindset to be present.

Yesterday, a milestone for all three of us.

The entire school lines up to cheer the Seniors.

Imagine the Lower and Middle School children thinking about this could be them someday.

Today, a Saturday, we awaken to the same life we had yesterday.

What’s different, better, worse than yesterday?

Does it matter?

Control what you can control. Surrender to what you can’t control.

Have fun today.

Sir, i’m sorry but you’re going to have to leave

Disney Keynote Speaker
Gambled that i’d be the only one on the back wall if i simply opened the door and walked in. i was correct.

Michael Jr and jeff noel
Michael Jr initiated the photo opportunity. i simply piggy-backed on his first move.

We reversed the roles.

Disney Keynote Speaker
This young man witnessed the interaction with Michael Jr becasue he was there to drive me to the airport – i carved out time to mentor this college sophomore who wants to eventually work for Disney. We talked on the drive and at the airport Starbucks.

Three quick photos. Different angles. Looking at things differently helps you to .think .differently

My peripheral vision detected a person approaching me as a stood against the back wall watching Michael Jr speak..

Sir, i’m sorry but you’re going to have to leave.

Nope.

She didn’t say that.

She asked if i’d like to join her and her group.

Saw the last 30 minutes guilt free.

As i waited in the lobby for a ride to the airport, Michael Jr. and i had a chance to talk just before he drove to his next gig in Chicago.

PS. During Michael Jr’s speech, i got a little teary-eyed trying to comprehend Melissa’s generosity. Her invitation to stay blew my mind.

The best option was to arrive early and wait outside in the cold

biking in Winter Garden Florida
Two days ago riding to bike shop from gym…Winter Garden Cemetary. Stopped to write a thought (coincidently about funerals) down in the Apple Notes app. PS. The microphone/dictation feature often works below an acceptable level while riding with wind noise.

ATT Store
Context. Stumbling into this ATT store was ridiculously random. One of the few stores open at 9am…a warm place to pass time.

ATT Store iPhone display
Passing time at ATT Store until bike shop opened at 10am. Googling “Disney Keynote Speakers” was also random.

Bicycle repair bill estimate

Glacier Cyclery
January 13, 2018. Biking Going-to-the-Sun Road will happen for the first time this Summer.

Disney Board announcement
Yesterday. Business is often unpredictable. Bank on it being so.

Disney Customer Service Speakers
Passing time at ATT Store until bike shop opened at 10am.

The best option was to arrive early and wait outside in the cold.

The second option was to Uber to the shop.

Cheryl drove me to the bike shop an hour before it opened because we needed to leave earlier than necessary yesterday, a Saturday, so she could attend a funeral.

i needed to get to the bike shop to pick up a repaired bicycle – so i can ride tomorrow (Monday).

With an hour of waiting, i challenged myself to relax and make the most of it. Walking around without a plan was fun and different, and it kept me warm.

PS. The bike ride home on my “new bike” was wonderful.
