Carving Out A Life

Like a broken record?

quote about choice
Choosing wisely is hard work. So is choosing poorly. We forget the later.

Like a broken record?

Yes.

Every day it’s the same thing.

And part of our routine is to be open to spontaneity. Routine can inhibit spontaneity.

Everyone knows that.

But being decently organized and simplified facilitates a balanced amount of spontaneity.

Without being decently organized, we spend too much of our time slowly falling behind.

Falling behind inhibits enjoyment of spontaneity.

Mom’s on her way home…

Disney Culture Keynote Speakers
Shared the story with a 15-year old last night.

The light on meant Walt was in the Park.

Disney Culture Keynote Speakers
Since Walt’s death December 15, 1966, the light has always remained on. Walt is always in the Park.

Mom’s on her way home i told our son after Cheryl texted me.

Chapin said, excuse me.

Then it hit me, we aren’t at home, we are in a Disneyland Hotel room.

No one cares about my daily minutia

Apple Special Event September 2015
As i write this post, the iPhone 6s is being revealed.

As the clock ticks 2:33pm EST, no one cares about me sharing this minutia. But what’s interesting, to me, is how the sharing of these daily challenges and nuances actually illustrates the secret of life.

The secret of life is finding consistent balance, and using creativity, drive, and determination to consistently live in the space labeled thriving.

The mundane, boring rhythm of life’s upkeep

Palm tree trimming
Annual palm tree trimming. Trees center left are next.

Some chores require daily attention and we are the only ones who can do them.

Other chores happen weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually.

Some require experts to complete.

Annual tree trimming seems insignificant until you remember that next month is the peak month for Hurricane season (June 1 – Nov 30).

There are some chores we do once in a lifetime, maybe. One of those was yesterday. A phone call (from Epcot) with the guy that produces Lee Cockerell’s podcasts.

Will it lead to me doing podcasts? It’s a pricy proposition. How do you organize yourself to calculate the risk versus reward?

Oh, and one more chore. Bought a new Macbook two days ago. It’s still in the box.

How is a person supposed to stop thinking about putting a dent in the Universe?
