You’d never know

war news
First Russian hyper-sonic missile fired on Ukraine today. The structural devastation to Ukrainian cities is sickening to watch. The civilian deaths, despicable.

You’d never know there is an horrific Russian invasion on Ukraine.

Watched the World Indoor Track & Field championships from Belgrade today.

Watching my second March madness College Basketball game in the background. Not a basketball fan, but love the scrappy fights that underdogs put up against higher ranked teams.

Three-million-plus Ukrainian refugees. Expecting that to potentially triple.

How is life so normal and peaceful almost everywhere and a hellish invasion and devastating bombardment continues into it’s fourth week?

This website is about our HOME. This is the fifth of five daily, differently-themed blog posts about: (1) mind, (2) body, (3) spirit, (4) work, (5) home. To return to Mid Life Celebration, the site about MIND, click here.

Point to it on a map?

You are “here”.
Talking trash.

Everyone is in one of three places:

  1. Going through a hell no one knows about.
  2. Just came out of a hell no one knew about.
  3. Unaware, yet about to go into a hell no one will know about.

Some of us, myself included, are in more than one of these three places.

Feeling edgy with today’s posts. Could easily be edgier. Today is mild-edgy. It’s lonely to have the highest bar set for mind, body, spirit, work, and home.

To whom much has been given, much is required.

There is solace knowing these blogs are publicly private.

Running your own business is like a roller coaster ride

Amish post cards
Intentionally trying to exceed expectations with five wonderful human beings.

Running your own business is like a roller coaster ride, but without the built in safety that OSHA requires theme park owners to adhere to.

There is no safety net being an entrepreneur.

Everyday your business is at risk.

Unscrupulous people.

People going through an unexpected hell and they are not themselves.

People making promises with their spirit, but unable to deliver with their work habits.

Far too many arm-chair quarterbacks in the world.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

In the absence of having all the answers…

reinventing selfies
How many of us are comfortable taking selfies from this angle?

In the absence of having all the answers…

We must forge ahead anyway. Making mistakes.

Making mistakes is one of the best indicators you are making progress.

We will never know what we are capable of until we discover we aren’t capable.

And then, oh and then…and then we can try again in a different way (risking another failure) and repeating this process until we eventually become capable at what we weren’t capable of.

Theory this

Publix sweet cream butter
No longer using processed margarine. Suger elimination is on the radar as well.

Over the years, we develop theories about what we are capable of – and then we spend the rest of our days trapped in these theories.

Seven months without coffee or diet coke.

More than a month of zero emails for in-box, sent, and deleted folders.

And i told myself, “Never in a million years.”

So, a new question to keep asking myself, “What else are you carrying around that you believe to be impossible, you know, a theory?”
