What are you thinking about today that’s 60 days from today?

school project in kitchen
The other night working on a school project that isn’t due for a couple more days.

What are you thinking about today that’s 60 days from today?

Well, to be exact, 62 days from now is Christmas morning.

Writing two months in advance inspires me.

Can you inspire yourself?

Be organized with life’s five big choices and you will astonish yourself.

But you must be organized.

PS. You may still astonish yourself if you aren’t organized but it will revolve around how disorganized you are.

It’s the age-old tale of consequences: reaping what you sow.

Cold is one thing, but cold and wet…

Garden Wall in Summer snow
Garden Wall in Summer snow.

The overnight snowfall was followed by more precipitation.

The risk of getting wet or slipping on the trail delayed the Highline Trail hike by one day.

The risk of hypothermia is as real as it gets.

You could be alone and have absolutely no way to communicate with anyone. Period.

Was organized enough to get another night at Rising Sun.

Also made sure Granite Park Chalet knew i’d be a day late so they wouldn’t rent my room.

Guess what has jumped near the top of my list

Cemetery
We will be back to this exact spot in a few days to rest Margaret next to Johnny. Johnny was laid to rest there less than 48 hours ago.

Guess what has jumped near the top of my list.

Making, and paying for, my funeral arrangements.

Why?

Because i have seen how doing this in advance makes all the other details Family survivors have to deal with so much easier.

Plus, why would any of us wait?

Because we’re scared?

Because we can’t afford it?

Because that’s what our grandparent(s) did to our parent(s)?

Break the chain.

Set the example.

Be a leader.

It comes with a responsibility and a freedom many deny themselves.

Dream big, plan early

Logan Pass at Dusk
Sometimes the opposite of arriving early – staying late – provides margin. After the parking lot empties, Nature awakens.

There is something about breathing room that literally defies logic.

Creating space on a countertop.

Arriving earlier than necessary.

Thriving on less.

Simplicity.
