Why the Smiley Face Every Time?

Why the smiley face every time?

Five blogs per day.  Five smiley faces per day.

Why?

This past school year, our eight-year old son read most nights.  He was responsible for logging what he read, how many pages and the elapsed time spent reading.  He also was responsible  for getting my wife or I to sign our name for each entry.

I always signed my name with a smiley face.

One day I stopped doing it, thinking it was silly, or maybe immature.

Later, my wife told me that our son spoke to her about it, and wondered why I had stopped.

So I asked my son why he even noticed, because I didn’t think he did.

Well guess what?  He did notice.  He liked them, and he missed  them.  And I’m back to adding a smiley face every time I sign my name.

PS.  Life is what happens while we’re busy making other plans.  🙂

Thanksgiving in July?

Thanksgiving in July?

Absolutely.

Actually, what about Thanksgiving every single day?

I’m sitting here at the in-store McDonald’s at a local Central Florida Wal-Mart.  Getting new tires.

Here are a few things I’m thankful for:

  1. Working for The Walt Disney Company
  2. Actually, simply being employed
  3. Being healthy, as far as I know
  4. Actually, simply being alive
  5. Living in the United States
  6. Actually, simply living in a free & safe country
  7. Being married
  8. Actually, simply being loved and able to love
  9. Being a father
  10. Actually, simply having the privilege to nurture & teach a child

Well, this isn’t exactly the post I had in mind when I woke up this morning; however, it’s the post that my fingers type as I enjoy another vacation day, in the land of the free.

With Independence Day on Saturday, I guess my subconscious took over the typing controls.

I’m OK with today’s plan not working out.  Carpe diem, jeff noel 🙂

What’s the Point?

What’s the Point?

Huh?

Why are you here?  Seriously.

On this planet, I mean, why are you here?

Crazy thing is, I know.

I can’t believe it took me nearly 50 years to figure it out.  Better late than never, eh?

Do you know why you are here?  Carpe cosmos, jeff noel  🙂

It’ll take all of us

Who said,  “We can.  We will.  If we all work together”.

Does it even matter?

The premise here, is that we can not solve our Nation’s challenges and rise to meet our glorious Nation’s enormous opportunities, without the help of everyone.

Take nature.  Look at an ant colony.  Is there a single, solitary ant that doesn’t have a purpose?

I’m neither a scientist nor a genius.  But I am observant.

In those three short sentences were the nine words, of the 2,401 President Barack Obama spoke at his inauguration, that really inspired me.

I won’t expect anyone else to be perfect until I become perfect myself.    Ya with me?

Please don’t expect others, Washington DC, or anything, to be perfect.  If you can’t do it, how can you expect someone else to?

Wow.  I don’t know what got into me today.  I do know, however that  whatever it was, I’m sure it wasn’t perfect.

Pushy?

Pushy?

I don’t want to push anyone who doesn’t want to be pushed.

And yet, there is a certain human instinct in all of us, I believe.

In fact, there are actually a multitude of instinctual impulses, or desires, in our human brains.

The one I’m referring to now is the one that has to do with being pushed.

There are most likely exceptions, but I think that humans actually want someone to push them, to challenge them, to help them see things they can’t yet see, or do things they can’t yet do.

Seriously.

I know it may sound crazy, but deep down, I believe that you believe this too.

It’s for this reason that I’d like to steer you to Lane 8.org for today’s look at a subconscious yearning.

The stronger and faster a cave man was, the more likely he could find and subdue (kill) an edible animal.

This led to a meal, which lead to sustenance, which gave strength to survive another day in a harsh environment.

After telling you all that, may I please wish you a great weekend, full of whatever brings you peace, joy and love.

But please, by all means, visit your grocery store to get you next meal.  🙂
