Project wind sprints

The extra inch (bottom left) traces back to 2011 when i began operationalizing the gift Kendal didn’t know he unwrapped.

Project wind sprints – a vision for how leaders (myself included) generally have contrasting (and reversed) priorities and outcomes during a project lifecycle.

We don’t sprint at the end, we sprint at the beginning. This is the best vision.

We don’t make compromises simply because bad planning means we’re running out of time. Also a great vision.

We eagerly highlight the challenges ahead, but spend no time casting blame after something fails. Perfect vision.

You cool with that?

You get that in real life we procrastinate the start, panic near the end, and scramble frantically to meet our deadline, right?

Be the change. Lead the great vision. Buck the herd mentality.

Organized for the last 9 hugs

LinkedIn direct message
Because of my Disney association, i cross paths with many people and speak with many of them. Here’s a screen shot to capture a small moment in time last night. My message to Rafik is un-noteworthy. Rafik’s, on the other hand, is enlightening – he still remarks about “going the extra inch”.

Organized for the last 9 hugs.

We have five days next week, and four days your final High School week – the fifth day that second week there’s no school because of the evening graduation ceremony. So, nine hugs remaining.

Son, the few seconds it takes us to engage in an after school hug is perhaps the greatest of all the extra inches we could do.

Remember, we never let what we couldn’t do (something that required much more time and much greater effort to be memorable) stop us from what we can do.

Go the extra inch TEDx Talk title brainstorm

Before submitting my TEDx Talk proposal, the Talk title had to be chosen.

Going The Extra Mile Is A Flawed Concept, And What to Do Instead

Son, remember, Disney creativity and innovation has four blueprints:

  • Generate Ideas
  • Select Ideas
  • Implement Ideas
  • The Leader’s Role

Did so many extra inches before, during and after the TEDx Talk

Stitch and handheld microphone
Karma for this morning?

Did so many extra inches before, during and after the TEDx Talk.

It’s glorious to preach what you practice.

One of the easiest was standing at the already opened Lecture Hall door and greeting Guests as they arrived.

The beauty of paradox and .thinking .differently

Mr and Mrs Incredible
My superpower is an insatiable desire and ability to .think .differently

Ben, open to any edits….while a foundational business concept, it (my TEDx Talk’s message) is unknown to the world. i use this concept personally and have been teaching it to our son (now 18) and am convinced this has the power to change our world into a happier, more productive, and more joyful place, one inch at a time.
