Page starters

From a college classroom during a campus tour.

Simple page starters.

  • Once upon a time there was…
  • Every day…
  • One day…
  • Because of that…
  • Because of that…
  • Until finally…

Simple.

Powerful.

Over-complicating things ensures overwhelm, anxiety, and frustration.

Focus on the solution idea

TED talk karma
TED wants ideas, not problems.

The world wants ideas and solutions.

Exposing an issue is the easy part.

Solving the issue is what adds value.

They are both important, both necessary, but like i say about Christmas – Christmas means nothing without Easter.

Until you have your own list, study a lot of lists

Disney Leadership Speakers
Wrote this on an airplane napkin while watching Moneyball in 2012.

Good list from a 2012 flight home from France.

Number three caught my eye. There’s a time and a place for everything. Staying late is when your learning curve is blasting off.

Once you’ve reached a certain level, you’ll need to figure out how much of your life you want to sacrifice to keep moving forward.

Turning 60 in a couple months, i can tell you that staying late no longer works for me. The other 11 are still massively important to me.

Coaching requires trust to be effective

brilliant classroom ideas
Soundbites captured in a classroom yesterday. Profound wisdom is simple and easy to understand.

The first note above is pure genius.

So never let your self-talk (self-coaching) happen only when you are beating yourself up for your mistakes.

Why?

Because you will never learn to trust your “good conscience”.
