Step up to the plate every single day

New Year's Resolutions

(photo: December 31, 2014 from a Senior Living Facility in Allentown, PA. The time and temperature on the bottom right are from Philly. It’s 25 here.)

The beautiful thing about writing five daily, differently-themed blogs is that every day is not a home run. But every day is an opportunity to step up to the plate and swing away.

Whatever it is you hope for, may you step up to the plate every single day.

Fun is in the home freedom

(photo: This is the last of five daily blogs written each morning. Organized enough to include these photos from a few minutes ago. Desk faces East but walked downstairs and down the front porch steps.)

Fun is in the home freedom.

It’s astonishingly staggering the space we make in every corner of our lives when we clean out the corners of our drawers, closets, and other living spaces.

In two words – extraordinarily freeing.

Being free is fun.

Having fun is a big part of why we exist.

No brainer, eh.

Busy, busy.

Failure to organize is a gift

Inspiring quote
We will not die if our stuff vanishes.

Failure is a gift… if we learn from it. And the beautifully redundant lesson is that failure is not fatal (exceptions to everything, but you get the picture).

Toss things. Give things away. Repurpose.

Worst case, we will feel separation anxiety.

Best case, we feel a freedom we haven’t felt in a long, long time.

And we’re talking a freedom that is beyond amazing.

Incomprehensible.

Joyful.

This, son, is freedom…

Dear son, we’ve talked about all too common approval addiction in society and how the parental focus for us has been on you finding your worth in what you have accomplished, not in what someone else is pleased with.

It is in our self awareness that the approval from others is no longer necessary, nor even desired.

This, son, is freedom.

And joy.

Happiest of days.
