Clarity for wills and will nots

Will:

  • Expect easy, prompt access to top decision maker
  • Require one main contact
  • Behave intensely & intentionally
  • Have fun (non-negotiable)
  • Be flexible
  • Push all boundaries
  • Lean into discomfort and lean on Florence
  • Question everything
  • Challenge everything
  • Sniff out excuses
  • Dress casually
  • Be your greatest teacher
  • Answer questions with “it depends” or by asking a question, or both

Will not:

  • Give less than 110%
  • Accept status quo

Got the number

Disney Casting Center last night. Drove by on the way home, after being dropped off at my car.

Got the number.

It’s super low.

We both see how valuable our working relationship can be. This is accentuated by a five year working relationship.

What i have not yet been able to do is get the owner to see this as a once-in-lifetime bargain, even though it’s a high dollar contract.

What price do you pay for organizational vibrancy?

Hope and all that goes with it

Small, nimble, creative, resourceful, enthusiastic. The epitome of innovative.

If you are only worried about price, you will worry about overpaying, and we’re not going to be able to work this out.

Why?

The price you need to pay will be much higher than you want and it will also be much lower than i want.

At the same time, it will be an incredibly fair price if we agree and get started.

If we go with no deal, we both miss an opportunity.

One of us is equipped with organizational vibrancy for moving on as if nothing happened.

The other will be in the same situation without any viable, expert guide.

Hope and everything that goes with it, like a plan and commitment, will be literally impossible to find.

This is a business example for when i lean on the serenity prayer.

Obnoxiously in the zone

This is what a zealot looks like, at least the Disney/Glacier version.

Obnoxiously in the zone.

What?

i’m experiencing a David versus Goliath type of business freedom that i never saw coming.

Never dreamed of this freedom.

Never wished for this powerful freedom.

What is Goliath going to do if i walk away?

What seemed like a sure thing for Goliath is looming as a loss. And not only a loss, but a once in a lifetime loss.

Why?

Long story short: world-class, time-tested wisdom, expertise, and enthusiasm in a rare, unquestionably trustworthy partner is gone forever.

And for me?

A loss i hate to take but one i can afford.

Decision juice

Sent this postcard the other day. We are heading there for Christmas. Soon.

Assumptions as you prepare pitch to Board:

  1. They are smart.
  2. They want what’s best for your organization.
  3. They know cultural vibrancy = competitive advantage.
