Experience and inexperience

Wild Goose Island is down there. Never saw it from this angle.
We were the only two out here. Blackfoot and Jackson Glaciers.
Middle left, barely visible, Wild Goose Island. The Great Plains at the top.

Experience and inexperience.

Sometimes, probably often, being disorganized is a manifestation of doing something new.

Hiking in Glacier for the first time, my hiking buddy (we met on trail) yesterday didn’t have bear spray, food, or water.

At six hours and nine miles at high elevation, i had all three.

Long ago, i would have been exactly like John.

He was awesome company, a veteran, and he unknowingly provided me an opportunity to hike without drinking.

He declined two offers to drink from my camelback, but did accept a protein bar for lunch.

Never knew i could hike so far and so long without water. Thank you John.
