Personality Or Character?

Yesterday, during lunch of all places, a friend was sharing the difference between personality and character. There were several times as we talked that I had to write down what he said.

Personality is who you want others to think you are.

Character is who you really are.

So I guess it comes down to this, we are either acting or authentic.

For all the actors out there, we’ll eventually figure you out. Don’t expect an academy award.

  1. When I first read this post, and then again when I reread it, repeatedly, the first thought that comes into my mind is, “Guilty as charged.” For there are actions and reactions I have made, that I pray for forgiveness. I wonder if that is all part of character rebuilding?

  2. Patty, we humans are perfectly imperfect.

    This shouldn’t stop anyone from trying to be more righteous, more humble.

    Imagine what or who we’d be without the trying.
