Pretty Organized?

How organized are you?

Life is easier in direct proportion to our ability to prioritize and organize.

So why does life feel so out of control, so often?

  1. Jeff, I’m a referee for USA Swimming and this blog made me think of our swim meets. I often discribe them as controlled chaos.

Somehow amongst the throngs of swimmers (~500-600), parents, officials, vendors, concessions, etc…we manage to get the correct swimmers behind the correct blocks in the correct lanes and we manage to get the correct times for the correct swimmers on the correct team rosters.

These meets go from 6 a.m. til 8 p.m. for 2 or 3 days. When we are done we are exhausted but we feel a sense of accomplishment.

I think swim meets are a microcosm of life.

    Controlled Chaos.

The only way we can survive is to be organized, have a plan, and deal with the issues as they arise without disrupting the plan (too much).

In the words of Dwight D. Eisenhower, “Plans are nothing; planning is everything”.

    Have a great weekend.

  2. Skip, insight. I remember Jamie being a swimmer. Were you?
You know Skip, volunteering to help make a swim meet run well is really what life is all about. Helping make things a little better ,where and when you can.
I often wonder where some kids would be if they didn’t have organized sports to keep them busy and out of trouble.
    Great work, brother.
