Steve Prefontaine & jeff noel

What do Steve Prefontaine and jeff noel have in common?

By the way, Steve Prefontaine was America’s running prodigy in the early 1970’s.  He held every American running record from 2,000 – 10,000 meters.  Every single one.

As a high schooler, “Pre” was featured on the cover on Sports Illustrated magazine.

Pre was coached by Bill Bowerman, legendary University of Oregon head Track coach and co-founder of a little company, Nike. Bowerman was the 1972 Olympic Track & Field head coach.

In 1972, at Munich, Pre was our best hope for a medal in the 5,000 meters.

Pre was a rebel who just so happened to also be a runner.  He reminds me of someone else.  Hmmm, now who might that be?

Do You Blog?

Some do.  Some don’t.  Some want to.  Some don’t.

There are people who understand the advantages to having a web presence. And there are those that don’t – and they fall into two probable groups:

  1. Those wanting to, but don’t know how to start
  2. Those not wanting to, for a variety of reasons

Same thing happened with cell phones and computers.  Now look at how common those things are.

Are  ya with me?  Have a GREAT day.  It’s up to you.  Carpe diem, jeff 🙂

What about 200k?

Yeah, 200,000 is also a big number.  In fact, it’s the number that will make half-a-million possible.

Three is a small number.

What makes this so distracting is that the small number and the huge number are related. And I can’t get that out of my head.

Know how to keep a curious, easily distracted person in suspense (oh look, shiny)?

I’ll tell you tomorrow.  🙂

Half Million?

Half Million?  Sure looks like it.  Dollars?  No.

Something else then?  Of course.  It’s very distracting.  Very.

Half a million is a lot.  It tempts me to forget something critical.

My focus?  Yes.  Exactly.

So, purposely, I’m lifting my foot ever so gently off the gas peddle as I slow things down a bit.  This could put the half-million in jeopardy.

What’s Stopping You?

Excuses?

Attitude?

Fear?

Anger?

Doubt?

Good.  All these things mean you’re human.  There are a million ways to overcome these things.  The secret is to find your way.

That’s one of the biggest barriers – people want to be handed the recipe for success.  The reality is, you have to find it on your own.
