Disney Institute headquarters in Celebration, Florida

Met a Disney and Disney Institute colleague at Panera across the street from our former office building. DI is still there and doing well without us. Photo: from my parking space at Panera.

Disney Institute (DI) headquarters in Celebration, Florida.

Son, you remember being there a couple times as a child, when i needed to pick something up (or drop off something) on the weekend.

i was one of the first to work remotely from home.

DI does just fine without Bob and me.

We are doing exceptionally well since leaving DI.

Son, life has a funny way of living up to the theory that risk and reward are decently proportional.

If you could do freshman year over

Prepping for next week’s Disney Creativity Keynote Speech in Madrid. Some notes on a post-it note.

If you could do freshman year over, and you could have a roommate or a private room, which would you pick?

Private room.

Why?

To avoid potential personality mis-match drama.

The downside is losing the potential struggle and the lessons you learn from the experience.

Personal Organization creates moments

Yesterday a tiny spider was trapped in our kitchen sink. The spider a minute later was set free.
Contact for spider’s size. Spider on upper left paper towel edge.

Personal Organization creates moments. Moments as small and insignificant as coaxing (it took some creative effort and time) a tiny spider onto a paper towel to save it’s life.

Son, thank you for your compassion. It inspires me.

Reflect on your favorites

Reflect on your favorites.

Favorites are proof of what we value.

Favorites will likely change as you experience more of life.

Son, my two favorite places in the world, in this order, are our back porch and our front porch.

Walt Disney World, Glacier National Park and Sanibel Island round out the top five.

Over-focusing is a gift you give yourself

Ms Emily Tousek, IB Music Teacher, and a college-bound young man filled with possibility.

Over-focusing is a gift you give yourself.

Over-focus on the same things you used to under-focus on or ignore.

Be intentional where you used to be less intentional.

Discipline yourself to use nothing but the growth mindset.

Son, you are well-equipped to build an amazing and enriching life on the solid foundation from your life in Orlando.
