Humbled

Unique And Unusual Gift?
Unique And Unusual Gift?

Something is happening.  Can’t put a finger on it.  It’s weird.

Things like this ever happen to you?  Probably.

When good things happen, it’s my human nature to downplay our good fortune.

I was watching Lee, the American Idol finalist. As the judges showered him with praise, you could see in his eyes that he was humbled beyond belief.

He went from a store clerk to a future million-seller recording artist.  In his mind, this is impossible. He feels undeserving.  Unworthy.

Except for one thing.

God has graced him with a gift, as God does with all of us.  It’s just that now Lee is crystal clear what it is.

And you?

jeff noel and Search Engines

jeff noel and Search Engines.  SEO. Search engine optimization.  Google. Yahoo, Bing. Safari. Firefox. Internet Explorer. Mozilla.  There are a ton of search engines out there.

Mostly, I use Google.  Why?  Google is the most recognized, and Google dominates search engine traffic.

Meeting with a fellow writer yesterday, he was using Yahoo. He told me that jungle jeff and Lane 8 we’re number one on the Yahoo search engine.  I didn’t believe him until he did the jungle jeff and lane 8 Yahoo searches.

Amazing.  Even more amazing, or maybe more interesting, was that on Yahoo, jeffnoel.org ranked higher than jeffnoel.com.  Not sure how that is possible.  And at this point in the journey, there are bigger challenges to worry about.

Do you have a decent prioritization matrix to handle cool distractions?  I do, but it only works about half the time.  🙂

And Then What Happened?

Well, the experiment paid off.  The website traffic numbers went back up, quickly.

So this was intriguing, “How does one keep their blog(s) relevant enough to compete with the pros”?

“How do you keep traffic increasing?  How do you figure out what people want”?

Just a month earlier, in May, I delved into You Tube, slowly at first, but now have 120+ videos posted.

Went to a Writer’s Retreat, started Twitter and Facebook, in July. These activities led to record numbers.

In August, represented the United States at the WMA Master’s Track & Field World Championships in Lathi, Finland.

Another record month.  Now in September, the posts are purposefully shorter, with fewer tags.  And for some reason, web traffic is breaking records, dramatically.

The only thing I can attribute this to is YOU, the reader of these blogs.  Thank you.  Your interest is humbling.  For real.
