Organized risk taking

Feeling vibrant. Looking North towards Canada from Swiftcurrent Mountain.

Organized risk taking.

Old habits, ingrained early, create a lifetime of choices that are made mostly, if not always, on autopilot.

Old habits that aren’t improved, discarded, or completely reinvented, will lead to a lifetime of subpar decisions, with subpar outcomes.

For personal vibrancy.

For organizational vibrancy.

We can become chronically tired from the drain of the time, energy, money, and resolve required to do what we know we should do, but we don’t, instead we take the easiest and safest route.

We know we can do better, and whisper to ourself that tomorrow we will.

This too becomes a habit we are too tired to change.

And then, like Walt Disney, we find our journey over when we really wanted to forge ahead with renewed vigor, starting ideally, tomorrow.

The best compliment from Walt Disney

The best compliment from Walt Disney was a thumbs up.

It means “Good Show”.

PS. A smile from Walt was also a great signal.

Would Steve and Walt been best friends?

Apple Keynote 2018
Yesterday at 1pm.

Apple 2018 Keynote
This started the same time our lunch hour began.

Would Steve and Walt been have best friends?

Had the Apple Keynote qued up just before 1:00pm yesterday.

My eyes were bigger than my stomach, and ultimately, i couldn’t eat lunch and simultaneously watch the Apple Keynote.

Planning to watch it today.

Thanks again Walt Disney for never quitting

One Man's Dream photo
After applying my Mickey Mouse sticker to the Walt Disney tribute mural, i walked around a bit. Reminisced about my first role at Disney, “Jungle Jeff”.

Pressed for time, i decided to watch the movie anyway. Rather than exit the theater normally, the Disney Host invited us to exit (reenter) back into One Man’s Dream.

Notice “Project X”? The initial “top secret” name.

One Man's Dream photo
Notice the name change to The Florida Project?

Filming two segments: one for the general public and one for the Florida Governor (Hayden Burns).

Thirty minutes after the first sticker, there are two dozen more.

Disney culture experts
Hours later, this was in my Twitter feed.

i honestly thought there was simply going to be some type of inspiring presentation about Walt Disney. You know, something you passively observed and enjoyed at your leisure.

The hoopla over me being the first one was a “Magic Moment”.

Never expected it.

One Man’s Dream was literally a ghost town for the first 20 minutes.

This unencumbered time allowed several one-on-one conversations with four Cast Members.

What would Steve and Walt do?

Speakers Bureau said their client has upped their original bid by 42%.

Rather than jump on it, the first thought was to walk away.

What?

Yeah, walk away. The early years of an organization become the DNA for every year moving forward.

No one walks into an Apple Store expecting to negotiate the price of a Mac or iPhone.

My creative solution is to agree to payment in full at time of signing. The event is eight months away.
