Just a pause to restate the obvious

Just a pause to restate the obvious. Summer 2020 is a summer of Glacier and quotes.

This initiative was inspired by cleaning a lifetime of Disney files and eliminating paper. Been curating the quotes that still resonate. Thousands have literally not made the cut. Enjoy. Gotta go, the mountains are calling.

Day to day living

Day to day living.

Covid-19 has provided a unique and extended pause from a busy schedule for all three of us at home – which is quite an unexpected blessing.

Why?

It’s truly an unheard of duration (one month and counting) to be busy doing nothing except whatever you want to do.

Kinda feels like what i remember about the summer when i was 10-years old. Too young for a job other than mowing lawns, and too young to care about adult responsibility.

Trying hard to not think epically

Lake McDonald
This morning’s Twitter feed for Glacier National Park. This view is standard from Village Inn at Apgar.

Trying hard to not think epically.

So far it’s not working very well.

To complete all seven Disney Business Books this Summer wil be epic.

To complete them in Glacier National Park will be epic.

To launch a new VIP Executive Retreat experience in Glacier will be epic.

To be able to walk away if an Executive doesn’t see the life-changing value…powerfully epic.

That the first writing trip is less than two months away is epic.

The fact that i am considering this my final Summer for the 10-year plan i began in 2009 – epic.

Of course this Summer is gonna be epic

Glacier National Park
Glacier National Park, last Summer (2017).

Of course this Summer is gonna be epic.

How could it not be?

Plus, it’s by design and completely intentional.

Why?

The reality is none of us know our end date.

And this got me to wondering, back in 2009…

What if we created a realistic date (based on our current age) as a deadline for doing stuff we might later regret not doing?

Would it work?

And what does, “Would it work mean?”

Fast forward from 2009…

i created a 10-year plan to accomplish everything i wanted (at the time) to do.

A simple list.

About five or six years into it, i added “Spend a Summer hiking in Glacier National Park.”

Yesterday, this article about Glacier Cabins possibly becoming available for lease.

Crazy.

Will Summer 2018 be my last?

Disney Executive Coach
i remember taking this photo at an airport sundries shop. Small stones with inspiring words in a little box by the cash register – impulse buy. Didn’t buy any.

Will Summer 2018 be my last?

i’m planning on it.

Also hoping i’m wrong.

Regardless, i know i absolutely don’t want to live the mainstream life where people think they have many years ahead and put off the important things now for when they’ll have more time “later”.

Following the well-worn path leads to predictable outcomes – look at the people in your Family.

Doing something that’s never been done by anyone i know is exciting.

Embracing death makes me come alive.

No joke.
