When your plate is too full

When your plate is too full, it’s challenging to stay focused on your critical priorities.

When everything’s important, nothing is.

Let that sink in.

You’re welcome.

Like the unstoppable movement of the Ocean’s tide

Each company offers something slightly different. It’s interesting to experience it rather than reading about it.

Philips Hue digital home life systems
Philips Hue home systems offer wireless lightbulbs. Wow.

Like the unstoppable movement of the Ocean’s tide, our to-do list ebbs and flows.

But mostly it flows.

Why?

Because we are creative thinkers, and we never cease to have ideas – ideas that can make our life’s challenges get better or go away.

And in this never-ending idea generation, we forget the basics and we forget simplicity.

Because we forget, we continuously overwhelm ourselves.

And so it goes.

PS. Just look at your inbox or desk if you need proof. The basics? Keep our in box empty. Keep our desk uncluttered. Everyday.

Ps. There will be exceptions. Be extremely cautious though, exceptions have an insidious way of becoming the standard.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Finding margin in a crazy busy world

Voted yesterday.

First swim of the 2016 season on March 15.

Another busy day, like all the others.

And so it goes.

Enjoyed the opportunity to ride a bicycle to cast a vote in yesterday’s 2016 Florida primary.

Also enjoyed a 15-minute after-school swim.

One of a million tiny reasons margin is necessary

This blog is about HQ – the box that holds. the four smaller boxes

We had a safety deposit box for 10 years at a branch that is closing. For several days, i’ve been working on the alternative.

It has taken a disproportional amount of time to secure a safety deposit box at a new location.

This is one of the reasons why margin is necessary in our busy lives.

It’s so easy for some small, new to-do to throw our schedule into a mini tail spin.

Why aren’t we crystal clear with ourselves about this?

Disney University Lobby
Photo from earlier this week. A lifetime here is a heavy influence in how i think. In 1982, i worked on the second floor every Friday in Cast Activities.

It was weird in hindsight.

We talked at length yesterday about how powerful culture is. Everyone knows it’s critically important.

Yet like health, we don’t do much about it (today).

It’s something we save for when we have time.

The harsh reality is we never have time.

We aren’t organized enough to be crystal clear about our priorities.
