Being on time is a challenge for everyone

behaviors trump intentions
Behaviors trump intentions. You can (and should) organize your mantras.

Being on time is a challenge for everyone.

It’s not impossible to be on time.

But you do have to change the way you live your life.

Some starters:

  • Leave early.
  • Plan travel time based on the speed limit then add another 10 minutes.
  • Make 10 minutes early as “on time”.
  • Make “on time” as late.
  • And make “late” unacceptable.

Clear expectations and predictable accountability always yield much better results than unclear expectations and little to no accountability.

Sometimes, the obvious is too unpleasant to think about and too challenging to put into habitual practice.

Disney Speakers
Everyone is watching how hard you work or don’t work.

He said several times last week he works eight jobs.

None of them are full-time.

The implication is that he’s juggling a lot.

Hard to keep a set schedule.

Harder still to set parameters for healthy habits like sleeping and eating well.

And then there’s me, his travel companion.

i’ve got one job, right?

Lucky.

Speaker.

And a high-priced speaker no less.

Super lucky.

Guessing he figures i don’t have much to worry about with prices so high.

Then it hit me.

The years fly by yet our days seem long.

So much to do.

So little time.

Does this phenomenon ever end?

Even when we’re decently organized, we’re still so busy.

Perhaps it is the notion that an object in motion tends to stay in motion and an object at rest tends to gather moss.

It’s ours to figure out.

Go.

A busy schedule is your best weapon

Disney Keynote Speakers
Yesterday at work.

A busy schedule is your best weapon against doing work that matters.

i’ll get to the important stuff in my life once i get caught up, once i find some breathing room in my schedule, once this project is finished, once the kids move out, once i retire…blah, blah, blah.

Expect the unexpected., even when you are decently organized.

Two contracts arrived yesterday.

Client calls this week.

Building some tailored content.

Managing never-ending home-front chores and gearing up for multiple past-due projects.

The list goes on and on.

Relentlessly.

Figure it out.
