Look closely (some of the best advice ever)

us customs

notice what the bear, Jack, is sitting on?

Did you happen to notice the individual legs (in the shadows) in yesterday’s photo? Notice above what Jack’s sitting on? Starting tomorrow (welcome July) I’ll be writing on all five blogs about a recent trip. It was mildly life-changing on a number of fronts. Never saw it coming.

We take so much for granted, don’t we? Legs for example. Or the importance of and opportunity to be….organized.

Reading between the lines often yields the key unspoken messages

airport customs

Had a longer than usual layover…customs was a breeze this time

he was traveling with two others with similar chairs

Not sure everyone reads the photo captions on these blogs. Significant thought goes into making the caption(s) thought-provoking. People are busy and distracted (squirrel). Yesterday’s message was in the captions.

An unlikely part of the paperwork of life

perspective

the angles from which to view things are endless...

An unlikely part of the paperwork of life is finding ways to put life’s challenges and opportunities into context. This takes time and creativity. Finding time takes organization. Finding creativity takes practice and time.

I remind our Son that our military often travel for a year at a time. At least I’m home a few days a week. Perspective (in anything) is a great blessing, but too often missed if we are disorganized.

Some of life’s greatest moments happen when we travel

childhood events

we’ll miss each other at next week’s camping trip, where I would have been a chaperone

Some of life’s greatest moments happen when we travel. Very often the people we love are with us when these great moments happen. And often, they are not.

The key is to be organized enough to have processes and systems in place. And to make the travel not become a burden nor a chore. I work desperately hard at ensuring travel is not seen as a negative.

Oh wow, you get to travel for a living?

PS. Please don’t misunderstand, business folk love to travel, it’s the being gone part that takes a toll (anyone who says differently is lying).

Will I be organized enough to leave without any stress?

International travel

a silly picture from yesterday...the time change is gonna make me silly, I'm sure

Will I be organized enough to leave for Paris without any stress? Being gone for five full days on another continent is routine for some. As a road warrior, I’ve contained travel to North America. The world is getting smaller and opportunity is getting bigger. I’m open to what lies ahead. Including learning a few new things to be organized for.

Insight: Just when you have great systems and processes in place, be prepared for more and different.
